Location Recces

• Sketch restaurant and bar - The Glade

Sketch was a nice location and suited the aesthetics of Melanie Martinez's music videos well due to the floral decor and pastel colours however Sketch is only open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and is often overbooked with a number of guests which would make filming messy and dangerous therefore my group and I have decided to not film our music video in this location.

• Kyoto Gardens

The Kyoto Gardens in Holland Park was another nice location with a lot of space and wildlife however it did not fit in with the aesthetics seen in Melanie Martinez's music videos which give and eerie vibe using childish colours and objects and for that reason, we have chosen no to film here either. There is also a high chance that bad weather may affect our filming or ruin it completely which may ruin our actress' clothing and makeup as well as damage any equipment we may have.

• God's Own Junkyard

God's Own Junkyard is a dimly lit but bright location which has a variety of neon signs, piled together and displayed next to each other. This location allowed us to create the creepy vibe we needed for Melanie's music videos as it was dimly lit and fit in with her childish theme. It also has a lot of a common colour seen throughout Melanie's music videos, which is pink which is why my group and I think that this location would be best for filming out music video.

• Afters

After considering the circumstances and accessibility, we have decided that Afters would be a more ideal place to film. We chose this as our final filming location the colour scheme matches with the colour scheme of Melanie's persona; pink and black. This shop is also a dessert shop which sells ice cream and cake which are foods that are mostly enjoyed by children which is the personality trait we are aiming to emphasise from our main character, Crybaby. This location is also local and allows for us to easier to converse with the workers for permission to film in their store.

• Photography Studio 

The photography studio is a necessary location as my group intends to film all contextual shots of our music video's narrative here in order to create a minimalist and clean looking video. It also has all the equipment we need to create good lighting and allows us to change the backdrop of our video. There is also less interference by things like weather, members of the public and tripping hazards.

• Two coloured wig - similar to Melanie's Hair

We intend to get a wig with two different colours in order to imitate Melanie's style, which is seen in every video she has made.

• Cake

We intend to smash a cake in order to show Cry Baby's frustration in the gifts that her partner gives her as this isn't what she wants from him.

• Teddy bears/dolls

Teddy bears will be used in order to replicate the childish and innocent look that Melanie has created in her videos on a variety of occasions. It also links to the character Melanie has created for herself, named Cry Baby.
